As part of the Newark Arts Festival, come Reimagine Legacy by celebrating 10 years of  EvoluCulture and its flagship show, Evolution Dopen Mic.

• Award-Winning poet, playwright, and Newark native Dr. Helena D. Lewis (CALL ME CRAZY: Diary of a Mad Social Worker) will be our featured artist of the evening.

• A (D)opening act from our host, Sean Battle, who releases his fourth poetry book entitled ON THE RIGHT SIDE

• 10-slot open mic list for all poets, singers, emcees, comedians, dancers and more to share. Sign ups are in venue, first come, first served.

• EvoluGames, where volunteers from the audience compete for a prize.

• Sounds by our Dopen DJ, The IZM.

Evolution Dopen Mic is the flagship show of EvoluCulture Ventures, and the 2nd longest running active open mic event in Newark, NJ. It is currently held monthly at Cryout Cave (601 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd, Newark, NJ, 07102)

Born and Based in Newark, NJ, EvoluCulture Ventures aims to hold space for artists and art lovers. Programming includes open mics, showcases, workshops, art exhibitions, mental health check-in sessions and more. The name comes in part from a quote by WWE Superstar, Triple H: “In life, you either adapt, or your perish; that is evolution."
